Description
Building on the L-Galaxies 2015 version and the BH-seeding model presented in Spinoso et al. 2023 (project: BH seeding), we implement the physical model presented in Zwick et al. 2023 for the formation of massive BH seeds, induced by gas-rich galaxy mergers at high-redshift. This model represent one of the viable scenarios for explaining how the SMBHs which are thought to power luminous quasars at z>6 formed at very early times. We explore the occurrence of this SMBH-seeding scenario both on the Millennium and Millennium-II merger trees, in order to exploit at the same time the large cosmological volume of the former and the good mass-resolution of the latter. The aim of this project is to study the observability of multi-messenger counterparts of the merger-induced direct-collapse BHs (miDCBHs) envisioned by the Zwick et al. 2023 model.
